If we don't get the health regulations for abortions that are based on best practice and best clinical evidence, we will still have to travel for abortions. If we don't get the regulations required as per the basic CEDAW recommendations, the UK will still be in breach of its Human Rights obligations. The basics we have asked for and provided medical evidence for are:

• No arbitrary limits on weeks gestation

• No 2 medic sign-off

• No added regressive criminalisation of medics

• No conditionality on health/mental health reasons

• No barriers for victims of sexual assault and rape at any gestation

• Designation for home use of tablets

• Possibility of telemedicine for those who find access difficult

• Buffer zones requirements implemented before services begin

Every extra regulation is a barrier for abortion seekers, every barrier is another time delay, every time delay pushes us later and later towards arbitrary limits.
We deserve the best medical care based on clinical evidence and not just because it's what our state neighbours do.
